But when anxiety is no longer situational, there is an undertone of anxiety present throughout the day and even at night, then anxiety can be painful - physically and mentally. Google ‘anxiety’ and there are lots of lots of articles and papers on this very topic.
So how do we cope with this anxiety? There are medications, psychotherapies, self help guides, the list is endless. One of the ways I like to talk about how to cope with Anxiety is using principles of Cognitive Behavior Therapy ( CBT) and being Mindful and using mind and body information.
Our behavior is often influenced by how we interpret the present moment/ situation and being aware of the ‘errors’ in our thought process is helpful. Do I jump to conclusions? Do I habitually engage in catastrophic thinking? Is there any evidence to support my hypothesis? These are some of the ways our thinking has an impact on our feelings. Being Mindful of these very thoughts and using the concept of mind body awareness is the first step in giving up the Anxiety. More and more Research is telling us about the benefits of Meditation and exercise . Adding both in our lives will make for a healthy life change.
