What is Cognitive Behavior Therapy? ( CBT) Cognitive Behavior therapy is a form of psychotherapy that explores the relationship between a persons thoughts , feelings and behaviors. It is a goal directed, short term solution focused therapy. It is very effective with adults and children. What is Mindfulness? According to Jon Kabat-Zinn , "mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non judgmentally." There is extensive research now that supports the effectiveness of Mindful practice in every day lives. It can be practiced by both adults and children. What to expect in Psychotherapy? The initial session is a 45-50 minute session where information is gathered from the individual/ individuals. The next appointments are between 45-50 minutes long. Usually appointments are made on a weekly basis. At the end of each session there is usually suggested homework/ practice of new skills and techniques.
