Dr. Mala Datta, PhD
Dr. Datta is a New York State Licensed Psychologist, and has been in private practice for over 20 years. She works with children, adolescents and adults in her practice providing psychological, educational evaluations and therapy. She also taught Psychology classes at Dominican College in Orangeburg NY till 2012.
Psychological evaluations are often helpful to medical professionals, lawyers, psychologists, social workers to identify areas of strength and weakness perhaps, to aid in diagnosis and help formulate goals in psychotherapy. Educational evaluation is very helpful to parents, if the children are gifted, or if the children are struggling in some subjects at school and they would like a 'second opinion' or to confirm a diagnosis or classification. Dr. Datta's approach to therapy is influenced by cognitive behavior therapy and solution focused therapy. She believes in a collaborative approach that is based upon individual needs. She works closely with parents of children who have been diagnosed with Anxiety, ADHD, Behavior problems and other difficulties. She works with individuals who are having anxiety problems, difficulty coping with sadness and depression, relationship problems, adjustment issues, and other life stresses. She provides cognitive evaluations to individuals who may be showing signs of dementia.
